Reassignment during the day is the most common recovery action there is. It is designed to be a single decision, not a sequence of edits.
- Open the trip, from the board or from the map.
- Choose Reassign. Eligible vehicles are offered — eligibility accounts for the service type and for what each vehicle is already committed to.
- Pick one and confirm.
- The receiving driver's route updates on their device; the trip leaves the previous driver's list.
What changes and what doesn't
- The rider's ETA is recalculated from the new vehicle's actual position.
- The trip keeps its identity, its payer, its authorization and its history.
- The previous assignment is retained in the trip's history, so the change is auditable.
- Nothing about the rest of either driver's route is rebuilt — only the moved trip changes hands.
