Reassignment during the day is the most common recovery action there is. It is designed to be a single decision, not a sequence of edits.

  1. Open the trip, from the board or from the map.
  2. Choose Reassign. Eligible vehicles are offered — eligibility accounts for the service type and for what each vehicle is already committed to.
  3. Pick one and confirm.
  4. The receiving driver's route updates on their device; the trip leaves the previous driver's list.

What changes and what doesn't

  • The rider's ETA is recalculated from the new vehicle's actual position.
  • The trip keeps its identity, its payer, its authorization and its history.
  • The previous assignment is retained in the trip's history, so the change is auditable.
  • Nothing about the rest of either driver's route is rebuilt — only the moved trip changes hands.
