Trip statuses explained
Every state a trip passes through, who moves it, and which ones are terminal.

A trip's status is the single source of truth shared by dispatch, the driver app and billing. Most transitions are driven by what the driver does, not by someone in the office updating a field.

| Published | Part of the day's plan, not yet assigned to a driver | Scheduling |
| Assigned | On a specific driver's route | Scheduling or dispatch |
| En route | The driver is travelling to the pickup | Driver app |
| Arrived | The driver is at the pickup | Driver app |
| In progress | The rider is on board | Driver app |
| Completed | Dropped off, with proof of service captured | Driver app |
| No-show | The rider did not present within the waiting window | Driver app |
| Cancelled | Called off before service, with a reason | Dispatch or driver, subject to policy |
Terminal states
Completed, no-show and cancelled are terminal — they close the operational record and are what billing reads. Reopening one is an administrative action with an audit trail rather than a routine edit.
